A horizontal cartoning machine is a packaging machine that loads products horizontally from the side.

A vertical cartoning machine is a packaging machine that fills the carton boxes from the top, using gravity or pick-and-place solutions. In this configuration, cartons move through the machine with their open side facing upward, making vertical cartoners ideal for products that require top loading.
